In case it wasn't clear, though, Mansilla's account is a "real life historical account" although his flair for the dramatic makes me think he might have worked his anecdotes over at times to make them more vivid for his newspaper (and later, book) readers. Have you read John Demos' The Unredeemed Captive: A Family Story from Early America by any chance? It's the last full-length book about a captivity story that I've read, but I highly recommend it to you if you're not familiar with it due to the greatness of the book itself and your interest in colonial North American history. Still, thanks for the visit and here's to all of us having a less "messy" rest of 2015 ahead! Sorry for my own delay in getting back to you, by the way. :DRichardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-32359585583148082212015-03-24T05:07:29.498-04:002015-03-24T05:07:29.498-04:00I found the translation of the sentences you to be...I found the translation of the sentences you to be so very well written.

It seems realistic and honest on the part of both characters. But really I'm here to apologise for not having visited before now to return your wonderful New Year greeting. It has been a messy year so far and I can only live in hope of tidying it up a little in the months to come! In particular, I've been a bad blogger, writing little and visiting less. It's never too late for new year's resolutions so here's hoping I become a lot more organised in the near future!
