However, I'd wanted to try Le Clézio for quite a while because a few of my most trusted blogging friends have been raving about him. Wasn't disappointed at all (to say the least)!Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-37433063188687411792014-01-16T21:53:09.812-05:002014-01-16T21:53:09.812-05:00Thanks for sharing that--will add Le Chercheur d&#...Thanks for sharing that--will add Le Chercheur d'Or to the growing list of Le Clézios to consider when I'm ready for the next one while keeping your friend's criticism of the other title in mind (still want to read that one, of course).Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-13692473388580465832014-01-16T16:14:08.492-05:002014-01-16T16:14:08.492-05:00Getting ready for 2666, are we?Getting ready for 2666, are we?LMRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08538873868140070018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-42424315298732415582014-01-16T13:57:28.942-05:002014-01-16T13:57:28.942-05:00I've read Le Chercheur d'Or and Desert. I ...I've read Le Chercheur d'Or and Desert. I loved the first, and read it in a gulp. I felt more timidly admiring of Desert - a book I naturally expected to love - largely because early in my reading of it I was jolted when a French friend dismissed the book. I believe she thought it somewhat facile with regard to its portrait of the desert people of North Africa, where she'd spent a lot of time. As I had no grounds for challenging her view, I probably should not have let it get in the way of my enthusiasm. seraillonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17654593356535433945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-2768586093423776922014-01-16T12:15:17.642-05:002014-01-16T12:15:17.642-05:00I was curious about your reaction to Le Clézio, Sc...I was curious about your reaction to Le Clézio, Scott, but I couldn't find a review (just a listing) when I checked. I take it you enjoyed the experience or experiences? Good guess on which "Arcimboldi" this resembled, by the way!Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-38423236787394659922014-01-16T12:09:28.242-05:002014-01-16T12:09:28.242-05:00Rise, what a treat you have in store for you--Wand...Rise, what a treat you have in store for you--Wandering Star and not my review, of course, ha! I think I'll probably want to read either Desert or The Interrogation as my next Le Clézio, but I liked how the poetry and the simplicity that you wrote about in your Desert post manifested itself in this novel. JMG, quite the writer(s), eh?Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-20408132519030174022014-01-16T09:51:18.316-05:002014-01-16T09:51:18.316-05:00Was this one of the Arcimboldi ones or one of the ...Was this one of the Arcimboldi ones or one of the Archimboldi ones? (The former, no doubt). Le Clezio certainly ranges widely in the settings of his novels. This is one that seems to rise to the top, and your review has put it over for me. I doubt I'll get to it soon, but will certainly be on the lookout for it. seraillonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17654593356535433945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-6440996705806828932014-01-16T08:15:45.991-05:002014-01-16T08:15:45.991-05:00I've just had a cursory look at your review.
