This book was actually very interesting to me, but I realize it won't be for everybody given its grim subject matter and lack of a "positive" message to take away from it. Of course, I agree with you on the value of reading stuff like this from time to time.

*¡Hola Ever! ¡Saludos!

*Hi Emily: Ha ha, yes, you've totally outed me as an NYRB fan! Thanks so much for the Powell's sale link, but the bookstore across the street from my job actually has a number of NYRB titles on sale as remainders right now. And since I bought something like 13 books there the other day (1 non-NYRB title at full price and 12 wicked cheap NYRB books for $5 and $6 a pop for the most part), I think I have enough for the moment. Sciascia does do a fine job here exploring the "multiple unacceptable options" of the Moro situation as you so deftly put it, so I'm looking forward to reading another couple of books by him in the upcoming year. A fascinating writer!Richardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01746599416342846897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-62807331997774542712009-12-20T15:56:48.615-05:002009-12-20T15:56:48.615-05:00There's been something nagging at the back of ...There's been something nagging at the back of my mind for a little while now, about the covers of the books you review, and how they have an eerie similarity...and it just hit me: you're a NYRB fan! Probably should have realized it sooner, but there you go. (And in case you weren't aware, Powell's is having a 30% off sale on NYRB books right now.)

Anyway, this sounds interesting. Hostage situations so often involve choices between multiple unacceptable options, and it sounds like Sciascia does a good job with that.Emilyhttp://www.eveningallafternoon.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-13033777181516091682009-12-19T15:07:20.672-05:002009-12-19T15:07:20.672-05:00Hola, Richard!

Saludose. r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07511683454711115536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1911087927983597831.post-33730200859472401552009-12-19T07:52:49.760-05:002009-12-19T07:52:49.760-05:00Brutal.
