Spanish Lit Month(s) 2014: 7/27-8/2 Links

 Mario Levrero

Wow, thanks so much to all of you who contributed posts to Spanish Lit Month 2014 this past week: our most active week yet participation-wise!  I see authors from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, and Uruguay represented, which makes this a pretty great week geographically as well even if Vlady Kociancich, in a piece on Borges & Bioy Casares and their longtime friendship that I just reviewed, recently reminded me that literature is probably the real "segunda patria" or "second homeland" for readers and writers alike.  Anyway, thanks again for all your efforts and please remember that Spanish Lit Month 2014 is being held over for another week or two of "overtime" if you have any last-minute reviews you'd like to sneak in.  Cheers!

  1. A busy week with lots of new reviews to check out! Thank you for including my post on Spanish wines, too; it's just a bit of fun, really.

I'll be taking advantage of the Spanish Lit Month extension to post another review this week, and I'm going to need another month to read all the books I've bought off the back of July's reviews. I hope we can do this again next year!

    1. My pleasure, Jacqui, and I certainly hope we can all do this again next year! (I don't imagine Stu will be too difficult to persuade.) Until then, I'm running behind on my reading of all these great posts but will be sure to update your latest post and/or posts for the event when time permits. Thanks for being such an active participant in this year's event, by the way; it's been fun discovering your blog through these book & wine posts. Cheers!

  2. Next year for this, I promise to either read something big and meaty, or to read more than one book. But it's wonderful that so much good writing is getting exposed (and is also available in translation).

    1. Scott, I'm going to hold you to that. How, I don't know. Anyway, all kidding aside, it was great to have you join us this year. Thanks for your participation!

  3. I'll see if I can add another Torrente Ballester before the 14th, but it's a long novel so I don't know...

    1. Miguel, I appreciate your intentions whatever the results. However, please try and save time/space for at least one more Borges post for year three of the Argentinean Literature of Doom! Announcement coming soon...at some point...eventually.

    2. There's always one more Borges post, Richard...
