Spanish Lit Month 2015: 7/19-7/25 Links

GOALLLLLLLLLL!  So the good news for those of you who haven't already heard it is that Spanish Lit Month 2015 will be continuing on into extra time fútbol style for the entire month of August.  Yep, one more month to keep postponing those reviews!  Yep, one more month of snarky Spanish Lit Month 2015 link round-ups!  On that note, here's the latest round of SLM reviews, which sees Cuban (Alejo Carpentier) and Guatemalan (Rodrigo Rey Rosa) writers getting onto the scoreboard for the first time this year as well as yet another replay-worthy corner kick from a Catalan hero (Josep Pla).  Woot!

  1. A double dose of Spanish lit month, how exciting! In that case, I might try to fit something else into my August reading. :)

    1. Lizzy, thanks for the reminder--I'd missed that somehow but will be by soon to actually read your post instead of just linking to it. Cheers!

  3. Seeing as somehow I'm just getting started, the extra month is definitely appreciated. :) And you are too funny, by the way. Playful today, aren't you?

    1. Frances, I'm "playful" every day, aren't I? Just ask the adult Young Adult fans who were reduced to tears from laughing so hard at my old Margo Lanagan review! Anyway, thanks for contributing a Javier Marías review to the mix for this week's festivities and enjoy the rest of SLM at your leisure no matter what's up next. Cheers!

  4. So glad you've extended the time for Spanish Lit Month. Don't tell anyone, but it appears I've abandoned Paris in July for Spanish authors. There are too many I have yet to discover and discuss. Just began The Japanese Lover, a book soon to be released by Isabel Allende, whose writing I've long adored. Had to abandon Alejandro Jodorowsky's Where The Bird Sings Best because while it began weird and wonderful, the weird kept getting weirder. Too much so for this girl...

    1. Glad to hear the continuation of Spanish Lit Month 2015 is working out for you, Bellezza, but I can understand the mixed feelings you might have about missing out on other events; I'd hoped to read something for Paris in July myself, but it has just been too busy a month on and off the blog for me. Anyway, look forward to your upcoming selections and that recent Vargas Llosa one you've already written about. Sorry for the delays making it over to your blog of late!
